Website Policy

The First Presbyterian Church of Plattsburgh operates a single website on behalf of the church. The web editor is responsible for maintaining this page and works at the pleasure of Session.

Policy:

  • The Church encourages the appropriate use of the website as a method for communicating church activities and information to the public. The primary focus is to communicate with church members, but the secondary focus is to recruit new members.
  • Content and information released on the website is equivalent in stature to content and information released to the media and public in any other format.
  • Photos of children will only be posted if the parent or legal guardian has not previously stated in writing that photos should not be taken of their child.
  • Photos or content of adult congregation members may be posted without consent, as the church is a public venue. However, if a congregation member wishes for their likeness to be removed from the website, the web editor will do so at their earliest convenience.
  • Congregation members are encouraged to provide ideas for content to the web editor, but the web editor is responsible for vetting and approving any ideas for content. Submitting content to the editor does not guarantee it will be posted.

Social Media Policy

The First Presbyterian Church of Plattsburgh operates a single Facebook page on behalf of the church. The Social Media Editor is responsible for maintaining this page and works at the pleasure of Session.

Policy:

  • The Church encourages the appropriate use of social media as a method for communicating church activities and information to the public and for receiving responses and commentary from the public. The primary focus is to communicate with church members, but the secondary focus is to recruit new members through keeping an updated social media presence.
  • Members of our congregation are not authorized to represent themselves as an official spokesperson of First Presbyterian Church of Plattsburgh on social media without prior approval from Session.
  • Content and information released on social media is equivalent in stature to content and information released to the media and public in any other format.
  • First Presbyterian Church reserves the right to remove posts or comments that are obscene, defamatory, offensive, threatening, abusive, spam, advertising a product or are unrelated to the content under discussion.
  • Photos of children will not be posted without the written consent of the child’s parent or legal guardian.
  • Photos or content of adult congregation members may be posted without consent, as the church is a public venue. However, if a congregation member wishes for their likeness to be removed from social media, the social media editor will do so at their earliest convenience.
  • Congregation members are encouraged to provide ideas for content to the social media editor, but the social media editor is responsible for vetting and approving any ideas for content. Submitting content to the editor does not guarantee it will be posted.
  • Congregation members are encouraged to ‘like’ and engage with the Church’s Facebook page, but are by no means required to do so.
